About BAMS

The BAMS full form is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences. According to Ayurveda.com, “There are only three kinds of dysfunctions or disorders in the human body Kapha, Pitta and Vata. These dysfunctions are commonly called the Dosha in Ayurvedic terminology. Kapha means Phlegm (water and earth), Pitta means Bile (fire & water) and Vata means Wind (air and space)." The BAMS course duration is 5.5 years. The BAMS syllabus ensures that each topic is taught to the students in an in-depth and detailed manner. This also ensures that the BDS job opportunities for students are very high.

Eligibility Criteria for BAMS

BAMS admission is offered to only those students who meet the eligibility requirements. Students should ensure that they are aware of the BAMS admission process to ensure that they have a smooth transition into the college. The minimum BAMS eligibility criteria include:

  • Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
  • Students need a minimum aggregate of 50% - 60% or equivalent CGPA in 10+2.
  • The minimum BAMS age limit is 17 years.

Who Should do the BAMS Course?

Students are passionate about Medical Science, Traditional Ayurveda and want to make their career in this field pursue a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery course. For admission in the course, students should have completed their 10+2 with a Medical stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) from a certified board with 50 to 60% marks. Only students above the age of 17 years may apply for the course.

When To Do BAMS?

Preferably, aspirants must apply for the BAMS course after completing class 12 from a medical stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. Based on the marks obtained in class 12, students can apply through merit or entrance examinations.

Type of BAMS

Students can pursue BAMS as Full-time, Part-time or Distance learning. Given below is the general information for the same:

Full-Time BAMS course: The duration of a full-time BAMS course is 5.5 years. Subjects included in BAMS are Padarth Vigyan and Ayurved Itihas, Charak Samhita, Dravyaguna Vigyan, Rachna Sharir, Maulik Siddhant Avum Ashtang, Hridaya, Rasashastra and also Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology & Diagnostic procedures, principles of Medicine, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Forensic Medicine, E.N.T, etc.
